Natural Disaster

Photography

In response to the tumultuous events of 2020, including the devastating effects of COVID-19, natural disasters, and political unrest, I felt compelled to create a series of generated photographs that captured the gravity of these occurrences. My focus was primarily on the impact of natural disasters worldwide, and I drew inspiration from the dramatic visual documentation found within the news media. By combining various images into a single final composition, I sought to create a compelling visual narrative that expresses the movement and intensity of these environmental events.

The earth is a living organism, constantly undergoing drastic changes in order to repair and replenish itself. This often means the occurrence of natural disasters which can have a profound impact on human life, causing damage to property, loss of life, and severe disruption to daily routines. However, I have also come to appreciate that these events remind us of the incredible resilience and beauty of our planet. Despite the human suffering they can cause, natural disasters also serve as a reminder that the earth is alive, that it has its own processes and cycles, and that it is constantly shifting to restore its balance and regain its strength.

It is easy to take our existence on this planet for granted, to forget that we are but a small part of a vast, complex ecosystem. But through my generated photographs, I aim to create a sense of empathy and sensitivity towards the earth and to remind us of our powerful connection to the environment that sustains us for future generations.
