Half-A-Chair
Oil on canvas
The mere act of dividing an object, such as a chair, in half can provoke a deeper thought or meaning. Yoko Ono's 1967 'Half-a-Room' installation was a powerful statement on the concept of space and how its division can alter perception and create new perspectives. Building on that concept, my painting 'Half-a-Chair' explores the idea of incomplete objectivity and invites the viewer to engage in a conversation with the artwork. Together, Yoko Ono's 'Half-a-Chair' and my painting 'Half-a-Chair' create a new symbolic object, one that speaks of the interconnectedness of art, space, and the human experience in a profound, thought-provoking way. The whole chair, when connected, is a metaphor for the power of collaboration, cooperation, and unity in achieving a greater and more fulfilling purpose.
